River Islands 6835.4.002.01
Pond E, Water Recycling Plant September 6, 2005
AUTHORIZATION REQUEST FOR MONITORING WELL Page 3
INSTALLATION AND GROUNDWATER STUDY
• The groundwater depth in the monitoring well will be measured to calculate the number of
well volumes required for purging.
• Prior to sampling, the monitoring well will be purged a minimum of three well volumes
using a 12-volt pump while monitoring for stabilization of groundwater parameters
(oxidation-reduction potential,temperature,pH and electrical conductivity).
• Groundwater samples will be collected using new plastic tubing and transferred to
laboratory-provided sample containers having analyte-specific preservatives, as necessary.
We will collect filtered and non-filtered groundwater samples depending on the analytes
tested.
• Filtered groundwater samples will be passed through a 0.45 micron filter in the field prior
to filling the sample containers.
• Samples will be stored on ice during transportation using a chain-of-custody record and
submitted to an accredited analytical laboratory.
Groundwater samples will be analyzed as follows:
• pH
• Total Dissolved Solids
• Specific Conductance
• Hardness
• Standard Cations and Standard Anions
• Dissolved metals (Aluminum, Barium, Boron, Iron, Chromium, Copper, Lead, nickel,
Manganese,Thallium and Zinc)
• Arsenic
• Ammonia as N,Nitrate+Nitrite as N,Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen(TKN) and Nitrogen as N.
• Bicarbonate Alkalinity, Carbonate Alkalinity,Hydroxide Alkalinity and Total Alkalinity
• Bromoform,Bromochlororomethane, Chloroform, and Dibromochloromethane
• Bromide,Fluoride, Orthophosphate
• Total Coliform Organisms
• Trihalomethanes
Methylene Blue Activated Substances (MBAS)
Reports
We will prepare an installation summary report in conjunction with the first quarterly groundwater
monitoring report that will include the following:
• A site plan showing the location of monitoring well and significant site features
