December 22, 1998 <br /> 41017 002 Harding Lawson Associates <br /> Mr Michael Kith <br /> ' PHS/EHD <br /> Page 10 <br /> ' The disposition of the various materials is again summarized in this section The debns from the demolition <br /> and removal of the wooden roof was transported offsite and disposed of as inert construction debris at Forward <br /> Landfill in Stockton, California on June 23, 24, and 26, and on July S, 9, and 13, 1998 After decontamination, <br /> ' the rebar from the concrete sidewalls and bottom of the UST, the steam piping runs from within the UST, and <br /> the removed product lines were transported offsite and disposed of as inert construction debris at The Lerner <br /> Company, a scrap metal yard in Stockton, California on June 30, 1998 The stockpiled concrete debris from <br /> the sidewalls and bottom of the UST was transported offsite by Universal Environmental and disposed of at <br /> FTG Construction Materials, an asphaltic concrete recycler in Stockton, California, between July 13 and July <br /> 15 The residual liquids and sludge in the UST, and the nnseate from steam cleaning operations, were removed <br /> 1 in vacuum trucks by Universal Environmental, a state-registered hauler, and properly transported to and <br /> disposed of at Seaport, a permitted TSD facility, located in Redwood City, California Approximately 713 tons <br /> of impacted soil were transported by Don Beste Transportation Inc , a state-registered hauler (Hauler 5'\0 <br /> ' Registration #2578), and disposed of at Altamont Landfill, a licensed TSD facility in Altamont, California <br /> between July 21 and July 24, 1998 Copies of the non-hazardous waste manifests for the residuals, the <br /> nnseate, and the impacted soils are attached to this report <br /> iCONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> The relevant information from the UST removal project at Newark Sierra is summarized below <br /> C The residual liquids and sludge were properly transported by Universal Environmental and disposed of at <br /> ' Seaport, a permitted TSD facility in Redwood City, California <br /> O The concrete sidewalls and bottom to the UST were properly steam cleaned (triple-rinsed) and the cleaning <br /> job was approved by Mr Kith of the PHS/EHD <br /> ' - The concrete sidewalls and bottom to the UST were demolished and properly transported offsite by <br /> Universal Environmental and disposed of at FTG Construction Materials an asphaltic-concrete recycler in <br /> Stockton, California <br /> - Rinseate was properly transported by Universal Environmental and disposed of at Seaport, a permitted <br /> TSD facility in Redwood City, California <br /> ' - Impacted soils were restricted to a narrow rim located adjacent and outside of the concrete sidewalls of the <br /> UST and these impacted soils were e\cavated and stockpiled temporarily for chemical profiling prior to <br /> offsite disposal <br /> - Impacted soils were properly transported by Don Beste Transportation Inc , a state-registered hauler, and <br /> disposed of at Altamont Landfill, a licensed TSD facility in Altamont, California <br /> - Impacted soils remain in place on the northwest and northeast sides of the excavation <br /> The lateral and vertical extent of the soils have been determined Are estimated to consist of <br /> approximately 40 cubic yards <br /> - These soils do not contain detectable concentrations of BTEX <br /> vi <br />
