Weber, Third Floor Fax 510 233 3204 <br /> Stockton, California 95202 <br /> Subject: WESTERN REGION <br /> Addendum to Work Plan for Phase Il Environmental Site Assessment at Newark ENVIRONMENTAL <br /> Sierra Paperboard, 800 West Church Street, Stockton,California <br /> ARCADIS Geraghty&Miller Project No.RC000537.001.001 <br /> Dear Ms. Lagorio: <br /> City <br /> ARCADIS Geraghty&Miller is submitting this addendum to the December 18, 26 December 2000 <br /> 2000 Work Plan for a Phase Il Environmental Site Assessment(the Work Plan)at the <br /> above-referenced property on behalf of Stockton-Sierra Cogeneration.This Contact: <br /> addendum includes the installation of four additional soil borings and the collection Mark Becker <br /> of soil and groundwater samples from each. <br /> Scope of Work Addendum <br /> Extension: <br /> ARCADIS Geraghty &Miller will advance four additional soil borings(borings 831-338-1418 <br /> SB-5-through SB-8) on the site at the approximate locations identified on the <br /> attached figure.The temporary soil borings will be installed using GeoprobeTM type <br /> direct-push sampling equipment,and soil samples will be collected as specified in the <br /> Work Plan. <br /> Soil borings SB-5 through SB-8 will be advanced to an expected maximum depth of 25 <br /> feet below ground surface(bgs)to facilitate soil and grab groundwater sampling.Three <br /> unsaturated soil samples will be collected for possible laboratory analysis from each <br /> soil boring. One sample will be collected from approximately 1 foot bgs,a second <br /> sample will be collected from approximately 12 feet bgs,and a third sample will be <br /> collected from approximately lfoot above the first encountered saturated zone or the <br /> terminal depth of the boring. <br /> Following the advancement of the soil-borings and the collection of soil samples, <br /> ARCADIS Geraghty&Miller will collect grab groundwater samples from each <br /> borehole.The grab groundwater samples will be collected using decontaminated <br /> stainless-steel bailers (or new disposable bailers).The samples will be collected into <br /> laboratory provided United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA)- <br /> approved containers,labeled,placed on ice (not blue ice), and transported to a <br /> California-certified analytical laboratory under appropriate chain-of-custody <br /> documentation. <br />
