Attachment A Geosyntec Consultants
Monitoring Well Installation and Development Procedures
• Following surging, additional water will be removed from the well by bailing or
pumping;
• Periodically during development, water samples will be collected and analyzed for water
quality parameters (pH, specific conductance,temperature,turbidity); and,
• The process of surging and bailing or pumping will continue until a minimum of ten
casing volumes of groundwater have been removed and water quality parameters
stabilize.
Water purged from the well will be contained and remain at the Site pending appropriate
disposal.
Groundwater Sampling
At least 48 hours after well development is complete, groundwater samples will be collected
from well DMW-513 according to the following general procedures:
• Purging and sampling equipment will be cleaned in a solution of
laboratory-grade detergent and distilled water and rinsed with distilled water;
• The water level and total depth at the well will be measured and recorded;
• Well DMW-513 will be purged using the U.S. EPA Low Flow (Minimal Drawdown)
Ground-Water Sampling Procedures (U.S.EPA, 1996);
• During purging, general water quality parameters (pH, specific conductance, turbidity,
and temperature)will be periodically measured and recorded;
• Purging will continue until water quality parameters stabilize;
• Groundwater samples will be collected using the low-flow pump and transferred into
sample containers prepared by the analytical laboratory; and,
• Sample containers will be sealed, labeled, and then placed in a cooler with ice for
transport to the laboratory.
A duplicate sample will be collected from well DMW-513 during this first sample event. A trip
blank consisting of organic-free, deionized water will be prepared by the laboratory and will
accompany the sample containers during transport to, during, and after sampling. The trip blank
sample bottles will not be opened. Groundwater and QA/QC samples will be handled under
standard chain of custody procedures and will be analyzed for volatile organic compounds by
EPA Method 8260.
Purged water will be contained and remain at the facility,pending appropriate disposal.
Page 3 of 4 January 2014
