27 October 2005
AGE-NC Project No. 96-0235
Page 9 of 11
and signed by a California Professional Geologist.
3.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Registered Geologist. Procedures for well installations, well development and ozone sparging are
described below.
3.1. DRILLING AND SAMPLING
A total of four Ozone injection sparge wells will be installed to a depth of 35 feet bsg utilizing a
truck-mounted, hollow-stem drill rig and 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers. Soil cuttings and
rinseate generated during drilling activities will be containerized in properly labeled DOT-approved
55-gallon drums or equivalent, and stored on-site in an area lacking public access. Disposal
alternatives for rinseate and stockpiled soil will be selected based on results of a laboratory analysis.
Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals for logging purposes, beginning at a depth of
5 feet bsg. Selected soil samples may be analyzed by a DHS-certified laboratory for the following
constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA Method 8015
Modified;
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylene (BTEX compounds) and methyl tertiary
butyl ether(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020;
• 1,2-Dichloroehene (1,2-DCA) by EPA Method 8260 Modified and
• General Mineral (metals and anions)by appropriate EPA Methods 700 and 6010.
Laboratory reports for soil analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with
findings and recommendations.
3.2. WELL COMPLETION
Four soil borings will be advanced for the installation of ozone injection points. Following
advancement of the soil boring,one manufacturer-assembled 2-inch by 30-inch microporous sparge
point and casing will be installed in each boring; the sparge points will be installed at depths of
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
