PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be submitted to the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department (EHD) and a health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with
Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).Prior to drilling activities,each proposed drilling location
will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
2.2. OZONE INJECTION WELL INSTALLATION
Based on concentrations of TPH, benzene and MTBE in the area of northern UST area, AGE
proposes installation of a total of 4 ozone injection wells in the following areas:
• Approximately 5 feet south of well EW-1;
• Approximately 10 feet east of well EW-1;
*ftw • Approximately 5 feet west of well EW-1 and
• Approximately located south of well MW-10 or 15 feet north of well EW-1.
The proposed ozone injection wells will be screened through the water table and ground water,into
areas of known petroleum-impacted ground water. Monitoring well MW-9 will be integrated into
the sparing network. Proposed well locations are depicted in Figure 2.
2.3. IN-SITU OZONE SPARGING PILOT TEST
Following installation of ozone injection wells, a 24-week (6 months) in-situ ozone sparge (IOS)
pilot study is proposed at the site; the results of the IOS pilot test will provide data to calculate an
effective radius of influence and determine the feasibility of IOS as a remediation alternative.
Procedures for the IOS pilot test are presented in Section 3.3.
2.4. REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of well installation and the 24-week IOS pilot study, a report will be prepared
presenting the findings of the investigation. The report will include a description of the work
performed,the results of soil and grab ground water analysis,and the results of the IOS pilot study.
Conclusions, applicable recommendations, maps and cross-sections will be included in the report.
*AW The report will be in a format acceptable to the SJEHD and the CVRWQCB,and will be reviewed
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
