Facilities shall be maintained and operated to minimize <br /> the possibility of a fire, explosion, or release of hazardous waste to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten <br /> human health or the environment. Immediately clean all stained soil and gravel, and manage according to Title 22 <br /> hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement and supporting documentation explaining how this waste was <br /> managed. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 303 CCR 66265.33 Failed to maintain all communication or alarm systems, spill control, or decontamination equipment. <br /> The eyewash station in the shop was observed with two garbage cans stored below it, partially blocking access. The <br /> water pressure in the eyewash was not sufficient to allow the water to rinse both eyes at the same time; the water <br /> sprayed out less than an inch from the spouts. All facility communications or alarm systems, fire protection <br /> equipment, spill control equipment, and decontamination equipment,where required, shall be tested and maintained <br /> as necessary to assure its proper operation in time of emergency. Immediately begin this practice. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 403 CCR 66265.173 Failed to keep hazardous waste containers closed except when adding or removing hazardous waste. <br /> -An oily catch basin was observed under the parts washer in the shop with no lid. <br /> -Saturated oily absorbent was observed in the secondary basin under the 20 gallon oil drum in the shop with no lid. <br /> -Three 5 gallon buckets of oily water were observed in the hazardous waste storage area with no lids. <br /> -A 55 gallon black steel drum of waste absorbent was observed in the hazardous waste storage area with no lid. <br /> All hazardous waste containers shall be closed at all times except when adding or removing waste. Immediately <br /> close these containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed when not adding or removing waste. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 407 CCR 66261.7(f) Contaminated container not marked with date emptied or managed within one year of being emptied. <br /> Twenty four empty 55 gallon drums which previously held oil were observed in the north yard without labeling. <br /> Containers larger than five gallons that previously held a hazardous material shall be marked with the date they were <br /> emptied and managed within one year of being emptied.
