Weber Street, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Workplan for Destruction of Groundwater Monitoring Wells at N & S Irrigation,
215 Main Street,Ripon, California
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
On behalf of Mr. Paul Van Dyken Sr. of N & S Irrigation, ATC Associates Inc. has prepared this
well destruction workplan for the above referenced site.
The scope of work in brief includes obtaining permits, pressure grouting three monitoring wells,
and preparing a summary report. The scope of work is described in detail in the following
paragraphs.
SITE LOCATION
The site is located on the north side of Main Street and the east side of Locust Avenue in Ripon,
California, as shown on Figure 1. The location is a residential and commercial area. The site is
currently occupied by N & S Irrigation.
SCOPE OF WORK
Field Activities
ATC proposes to abandon monitoring wells MW1 through MW3. Well locations are shown on
Figure 2. The well boxes, locking plugs, and top three feet of casing will be removed from each
well prior to abandonment. All three monitoring wells will be abandoned by filling each well
casing and filter pack with a neat cement/bentonite grout. The grout will be emplaced by
pressure grouting with a pressure-grouting tool.
For protection of the seal at the land surface, a hole at least two feet in diameter will be
excavated around the outside of each well casing to a depth of approximately three feet below
ground surface. The sealing material used to seal the well will be allowed to spill over into the
excavation.
ENVIRONMENTAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND MATERIALS PROFESSIONALS
