KLEINFELDER
1 EXECUTIVE SLTNEVIARY
This is a report of Kleinfelder's soil and groundwater assessment conducted at the West Clay
Properties Commercial site located at 639 West Clay Street, in Stockton, California (see Plate
1) Mr Dan Silva of West Clay Properties retained Klennfclder to conduct the assessment in
accordance with our proposal dated March 16, 1994 However, the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department required additional samples be obtained for chemical
analysis and additional compounds be analyzed for at additional costs to the client
Kleinfelder collected a total of twelve (12) soil samples from four soil borings Additionally,
three (3) groundwater samples were obtained from monitoring wells installed within 3 of the 4
borings
Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in all twelve (12) of the soul samples analyzed
However, only trace concentrations were present in the samples analyzed from the boring
associated with monitoring well MW-3 (aka boring B4) The hydrocarbons noted in all of
the soil samples analyzed can be generalized as primarily volatiles in the gasoline range with a
high percentage of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) Only minor
concentrations of the heavier hydrocarbons (greater than C16 range) were present The
compounds and concentrations present are indicative of a gasoline
Because all of the water samples had detectable hydrocarbon concentrations above regulatory
action guidelines, the lateral extent of TPH migration in the groundwater cannot be estimated
Furthermore,Kleinfelder recommends the following
1 Further assessment should be conducted of the extent of gasoline range
hydrocarbons in the soil and groundwater beneath the site
2 The existing soil cuttings should be incorporated with the hydrocarbon-affected soil
stockpiled at the back of the property for later disposal
3 The equipment rinseate and development/purgewater should be properly disposed
of by the Client Kleinfelder can assist the Client in that disposal at the Client's
request
A copy of this report should be submitted to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department for their review and consideration This report is subject to the limitations found in
1 Chapter 7
ErH and WC194
Copyrtght 1994 Kleinfelder,Inc Page 2 of 11
