Ah <br /> KL E IN F EL D E R <br /> File No 20-3769-01 <br /> November 21, 1994 <br /> • <br /> • TPH Purgeable by EPA Method 8015NV5030 (gasoline range) <br /> • BTEX by EPA Method 8020 <br /> • TPH Extractable by EPA Method 3550 (kerosene range) <br /> The samples will be analyzed on a normal laboratory schedule requiring approximately two <br /> weeks (ten working days) for completion <br /> Once the samples have been analyzed, the results would be evaluated for use of the soil as <br /> excavation backfill, on-site treatment, and/or'off-site treatment/disposal The results of that <br /> evaluation would be summarized in a short report which would be submitted to the client and <br /> the SJCEHD upon completion That short report could be used to evaluate some <br /> disposal/remediation alternatives for the soil <br /> Task B07- Materials Testing/Inspection of Excavation Backfill Materials <br /> Currently, it is proposed that the excavation be backfilled from the excavation bottom to a depth <br /> • of 30 feet below grade with a pea gravel backfill Those materials, when properly placed, will <br /> provide a stable surface without the addition of excess water From a depth of 30 feet to existing <br /> grade the excavation will be backfilled by your excavation contractor with Engineered Fill The <br /> Engineered Fill should be moisture-treated at the surface, placed into the excavation and wheel- <br /> rolled to 90 percent relative compaction (ASTM D-1557-86) Every reasonable effort should be <br /> made to limit excess water in the Engineered Fill <br /> Observation of the pea gravel placement and compaction testing of the Engineered Fill would be <br /> supplied by our office <br /> Task B08 - Reporting <br /> Upon completion of the field activities and receipt of the analytical results, a report of findings <br /> will be prepared for client and agency review The report will include <br /> • A description of all activities, results, and conclusions of previous soil and groundwater <br /> assessments performed in March/Aprnl 1994 <br /> • A description of the field activities, observations, and protocols <br /> i • Litholognc logs <br /> ETH and WC/94 f I I 8 o e <br /> Copyright 1994 Kleinfelder Inc Page <br />
