FIELD METHODS
On August 10, 1993, nine discreet soil samples were collected in
clean brass tubes, sealed with plastic caps and taped, labeled,
held in a cooler at 4 degrees C and transported under Chain-of-
Custody (COC) documentation to a state certified laboratory for
compositing, with a subsequent analysis and fish bio assay.
Soil samples S1, S4 and S7 made up one composite sample (Cl) , S2 ,
S5 and S8 made up the second composite sample (C2) while S3 , S6 and
S9 made up the third composite sample (C3) .
On February 22, 1994, eight discreet samples from the stockpile
were acquired, the samples identified as S10, S11, S12 , and S13
were composited on site into composite sample (C3) while the
samples identified as S14, S15, S16, and S17 were composited on
site into composite sample (C4) . C3 and C4 were put into clean
brass tubes, sealed with plastic caps and taped, labeled, held in
a cooler at 4 degrees C and transported under Chain-of-Custody
(COC) documentation to a state certified laboratory for analysis.
LABORATORY RESULTS
The analysis for CAM Metals utilized EPA Method 6010/7471. The
results of the analysis in parts per million (ppm) are shown in
Table 1 below. The metal concentrations are those expected for
background levels. The results indicate that the soil is
classified as not hazardous in accordance with the California Code
of Regulations. A copy of the Laboratory Data Sheets is contained
in Appendix A.
TABLE 1
mg/Kg(ppm)
Metal Sample I D with Amount Reporting
Name C1 C2 C3 Limit
Antimony ND ND ND 2 . 5
Arsenic 5. 6 5. 1 4 .2 0. 50
Barium 200 180 180 1. 0
Beryllium ND ND ND 0. 25
Cadmium ND ND ND 0. 25
Chromium 37 33 28 0. 25
Cobalt 18 14 14 1. 0
Copper 30 27 27 0. 25
Lead 5. 1 13 8 .2 2 . 5
Mercury ND ND ND 0. 025
Molybdenum ND ND ND 1. 0
Nickel 31 27 23 1. 0
Selenium ND ND ND 0. 25
Silver ND ND ND 0. 25
Thallium ND ND ND 2 . 5
Vanadium 68 61 56 1. 0
Zinc 61 60 51 0. 025
ND = Not Detected
42
