This workplan has been prepared in accordance with your
February 16, 2000, directive. A copy of this workplan has been forwarded to Marty
Hartzell of the Regional Water Quality Control Board.
SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION
The subject site is located at 4025 Coronado Avenue in Stockton, California (see
Figure 1). The J.H Simpson Co. manufactures duct work for heating and air
conditioning systems, and also installs, services, and repairs HVAC systems.
According to a William. J. Hunter& Associates report, dated February 1997, a 2,000-
gallon underground fuel tank was installed on the property in 1975. The tank was used
to store and dispense gasoline to company vehicles. Annual tightness tests performed
up to the time the tank was removed indicated that the tank was tight.
HISTORY
On July 2, 1996 Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc. removed the on-site tank and associated
dispenser. A William J. Hunter Site Assessment Report indicated that the tank was in
good condition, and no evidence of fuel contamination was documented. The removed
soil was returned to the hole along with pea gravel to replace the tank volume. Soil
samples were collected at a depth of 12 feet below ground surface at the east and west
ends of the tank excavation. Soil sample analyses indicated the presence of toluene,
ethylbenzene, total xylenes, and MTBE. No fuel components were detected in a soil
sample collected from the soil excavation stockpile.
11350 Monier Park Place, Rancho Cordova, CA 95742 Tel: 916.853.8025 Fax: 916.853.8029
