WASTE DISCHARGE REQUIREMENTS _3_ <br /> UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA <br /> LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL <br /> LABORATORY SITE 300 AND <br /> U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY <br /> SAN JOAQUIN AND ALAMEDA COUNTIES <br /> B. Discharge Specifications: <br /> 1. Neither the treatment nor the discharge shall cause a pollution or <br /> nuisance as defined by the California Water Code, Section 13050. <br /> 2. The discharge shall not cause degradation of any water supply. <br /> 3. The discharge shall remain within the designated disposal areas <br /> ( listed in Tables 1 and 2 ) at all times. Evaporation ponds for <br /> discharges listed in Table 2 shall meet the criteria for Class II <br /> surface impoundments contained in the California Administrative Code, <br /> Title 23, Chapter 3, Subchapter 15. <br /> 4. Collected screenings, sludges, and other solids removed from liquid <br /> wastes shall be disposed of in a manner approved by the Executive <br /> Officer. <br /> 5. The dissolved oxygen content of holding ponds shall not be less than <br /> 1.0 mg/l for 16 hours in any 24-hour period. <br /> C. Provisions: <br /> 1. Prior to discharge of the photolab rinse water listed in Table 3 to <br /> the Class II surface impoundment, LLNL shall submit results of <br /> compatability tests with the HE wastewater and with the impoundment's <br /> geomembrane liner. Upon approval of the test results by the Executive <br /> Officer, the wastewater listed in Table 3 may be discharged to the <br /> Class II surface impoundment subject to the same requirements as the <br /> other industrial waste streams listed in Table 2. <br /> 2. The Discharger shall comply with the attached Monitoring and Reporting <br /> Program No. 85-188. <br /> 3. The Discharger shall comply with the Standard Provisions and Reporting <br /> Requirements, dated 1 October 1983, which are a part of this Order. <br /> 4. The Discharger shall report promptly to the Board any material change <br /> or proposed change in the character, location, or volume of the dis- <br /> charge. <br />
