1 Mobilization AILd Site Preparation
Mobilization to the site with the required personnel
and equipment is expected to begin pending work plan
approval and final contract negotiations. Mobilization will
occur from the OHM Western Regional Office in West
Sacramento, California and will be performed in accordance with
the scheduled task needs.
The site will be prepared to facilitate safe and
efficient operations. Support facilities to be deployed
during mobilization will include a Personnel Equipment Truck.
The Personnel Equipment Truck contains support equipment such as
self-contained breathing apparatus, protective clothing and
handtools.
Mobilization will include preparation of the packaging and
consolidation areas as follows.
The packaging area will be set immediately outside the
transportainer where the chemicals are currently located. The
packaging area will be prepared by constructing tables for
handling the chemicals prior to packaging. A sheet of 4 mil
polyethylene sheeting will be placed on the ground in front of
the transportainer. The sheet will be covered with two inches of
+` absorbant material to cushion the fall of any dropped container.
The unknown opening and consolidation area is the area where
containers will be remotely opened and stabilized in an inert
absorbent material. The area will be prepared by placing an
impermeable liner of 3 sheets of 4 mil polyethylene on the ground
and covering it with a 6 inch layer of a mixture containing
` approximently 30% sand, 60% absorbent, and 10% lime. This base
will be surrounded by a sand dike of approximately one foot in
height. The consolidation area will measure approximately 10
feet by 10 feet (see figure 1) . A wind directional indicator
will be placed in a visable location near the consolidation area
and air monitoring devices will be placed directly downwind of
the crushing bunker (see figure 2) .
OHM
