' kq KL EI NF ELDER
' ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Between August 14 and 16, 2001 Kleinfelder collected a total of 14 soil samples from the two
excavations (LE-C and SE-D). Each of the soil samples were analyzed for the following
' analyses:
• Extractable Fuel Fingerprint(Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to JP-4 jet fuel
' [TPH-JP4], JP-5 jet fuel [TPH-JP5], Kerosene [TPH-K], Diesel [TPH-D], Motor Oil
[TPH-MO], Lubricating Oil [TPH-LO], and/or any Unidentified Extractable
Hydrocarbons [TPH-UEH] by EPA Method 3510/8015M)
' • Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons [TPH-P] by EPA Method 8015M
' • Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes [BTEX] by EPA Method 8020
Ten of the fourteen soil samples, six from Excavation SE-D and four from LE-C were
' additionally analyzed for:
• LUFT 5 Metals [Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Lead(Pb),Nickel (Ni) and Zinc (Zn)]
' by EPA Method 200.8
' A summary of the analytical results for soil samples collected in excavation LE-C and SE-D are
located in Tables lA and 2A, respectively. The tables are located in the appendix of this report.
Total xylenes were detected at 7.7 µg/kg in a single sidewall soil sample collected along the
' eastern sidewall of LE-C at a depth of approximately 7 feet bgs. Purgeable hydrocarbons and
BTEX constituents were otherwise not detected at or above laboratory reporting limits in the 14
' soil samples collected from the two excavations. Extractable hydrocarbons as diesel was
detected in a single soil sample at 2.2 mg/kg collected from a north sidewall sample in
excavation SE-D at a depth of approximately 2 '/2 feet bgs. No other extractable hydrocarbons
' were detected in the fourteen soil samples submitted for analyses.
Each of the six soil samples from Excavation SE-D and four soil samples from Excavation LE-C
were analyzed for five LUFT metals, Cd, Cr, Pb, Ni and Zn. Cadmium was not detected in any
' of these soil samples. The remaining metals were detected at the following range of
concentrations:
Chromium 25 to 38 mg/kg
Lead 6 to 10 mg/kg
Nickel 30 to 46 mg/kg
Zinc 38 to 61 mg/kg
20-4341-1 LE01/201 IL635 Page 4 of 8
Copyright 2001 Kleinfelder,Inc.
