k4 KLEINFELDER <br /> completed dewatering wells (DW-48, DW-50, DW-51, DW-52, DW-54, DW-55 and DW-56) <br /> Two soil samples were collected at a depth of approximately 10 feet below ground surface (bgs) <br /> ' from two incomplete dewatering wells (DW-57 and DW-58) These two wells were not <br /> completed because soil discoloration and petroleum-like odors were noted from the contractors <br /> installing the wells <br /> The grab groundwater samples were collected using single-use disposable <br /> polypropylene bailers <br /> ' and new string and as generally described in Attachment A The water was decanted directly <br /> into laboratory supplied pre-cleaned bottles <br /> ' The two soil samples were collected by advancing a stainless steel hand auger Soil samples <br /> were obtained by slide hainmering a 2-inch diameter by 6-inch long stainless steel tube into the <br /> soil at the desired sampling depths The stainless steel tube was then removed from the <br /> ' dewatering boring and sealed with Teflon® sheeting and tight-fitting plastic end caps The soil <br /> and groundwater samples were immediately stored in an iced cooler The samples were <br /> transported under chain-of-custody control to Kleinfelder's office and then transported by <br /> ' couner in a sealed container to a state certified laboratory for the requested analyses <br /> The stainless steel hand auger was decontaminated between sample locations with a Liquinox® <br /> (laboratory-grade detergent) and potable water wash and a distilled water rinse New stainless <br /> steel tubes used for sample collection were also decontaminated using the same methodology <br /> Three of the grab groundwater samples and the two soil samples were collected on April 3, 2003 <br /> and the remaining four groundwater samples were collected on May 2, 2003 The seven grab <br /> groundwater samples and the two soil samples were submitted to Alpha Analytical, Inc of <br /> ' Sparks,Nevada, a State of California certified laboratory for the following analyses <br /> • Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (Gasoline Range) [TPH-G] by EPA Method <br /> 8015M/DHS LUFTI <br /> 0 Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes [BTEX] by EPA Method 8015B/8260B <br /> • Total Lead by EPA Methods <br /> ' • Volatile Organics, including 5 oxygenates (MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, TAME and TBA) by <br /> EPA Method 8260B <br /> ' These soil and groundwater samples were analyzed on a rush 24 to 48 hour turnaround time <br /> (TAT) <br /> t <br /> ' 28699 E01 /ST03it759 Page 4 of 17 <br /> Copyright 2403,Kleinfelder, Inc May 20,2003 <br />
