The Plan is in response to EHD <br /> correspondence dated April 5, 2010, which required Shell to technically discuss the lateral <br /> and vertical extents of three areas at the subject site. <br /> One of the areas the Plan discussed was the groundwater plume at the eastern edge of <br /> the site, centered on monitoring well S-14. The Plan included a proposal to further <br /> investigate this area of the property by installing two cone penetration testing (CPT) soil <br /> borings to the intermediate depth zone. The EHD concurs with this proposal but requires <br /> an additional CPT to be installed offsite on Elmwood Avenue, east of monitoring well S- <br /> 17. This location provides the most down-gradient sampling point projected from the <br /> former waste oil underground storage tank (UST). <br /> Additionally, the Plan included a proposal to install one soil vapor probe on the northern <br /> side of the commercial building currently located on the site near soil boring B-7. The <br /> EHD concurs with this location but will require additional soil gas sampling points. Two <br /> additional soil gas sampling points are to be installed onsite to investigate the potential <br /> vapor intrusion threat to the private family residences that border the site. One point is to <br /> be added east of monitoring well S-14 and the other point is to be north, near monitoring <br /> well S-3. Shell is to include a leak test as part of the soil gas sampling protocol. <br /> The Plan includes analyzing groundwater samples from monitoring wells S-1, S-7, S-13, <br /> and S-16 for motor oil and oil and grease constituents. The EHD concurs with this <br /> proposal. <br />
