Robinhood Drive, Suite 205 <br /> Stockton, CA 95207 <br /> Subject: Former Shell Service Station LOP Case #: 505602 <br /> 1267 Country Club Blvd. AP#: 113-042-17 <br /> Stockton, CA 95204 Global ID#: T0607700721 <br /> The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed <br /> Groundwater Monitoring Report — Third Quarter 2009 (QMR) dated September 22; 2009, <br /> and Fourth Quarter 2009 Status Report (SR) dated December 15, 2009, and has the <br /> following comments. <br /> QMR covered the groundwater sampling event conducted August 10, 2009, and in the <br /> discussion section, Shell requested monitoring wells S-15 and S-17 have their sampling <br /> frequency changed from semiannual to annual, during the first quarter of each year. <br /> The EHD has reviewed the groundwater data and can approve the reduction if the <br /> following conditions are met: <br /> • S-15 and S-17 are to be sampled during the second quarter 2010 and analyzed <br /> for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX), methyl tert-butyl ether (MtBE), and tert-butyl <br /> alcohol (TBA) by EPA Method 8260B using approved LUFT detection limits. <br /> Samples from both S-15 and S-17 have typically had elevated detection limits. <br /> • S-15 and S-17 show no significant rise in dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon <br /> concentrations. <br /> If significant rises or anomalies are detected in the groundwater samples from either of <br /> these wells, the sampling frequency is to remain at semi-annual, each first and third <br /> quarter of the year. <br /> Also included in the QMR was a request to discontinue EPA Method 8270C and analysis <br /> for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) in monitoring wells S-8, S-13, and S-16. The request <br /> is approved. <br />
