I didn't think we would get approval for this, but understand that its part of my job to full fill
all my due diligence when it comes to safety concerns and to document that we at least made the request for approval
for pressure grouting.
We have decided to use temporary metal conductor casings (to 5.5 feet deep) in this specific situation that is unique to
this site as a method to protect us from making contact with the utilities during the over drill process.
Thanks again -
Dennis Baertschi
Conestoga-Rovers & Associates (CRA)
3969 Walnut Drive
Eureka, CA 95503
Phone: 707-268-3888 ext. 202
E-Mail: dbaertschi(a-)_CRAworld.com
From: Adrienne Ellsaesser [EH] [mailto:AElisaesser@sjcehd.com]
Sent: Friday, January 23, 2015 9:18 AM
To: Baertschi, Dennis
Cc: Project Email Filing; John Yoakum [EH]
Subject: RE: 240943- 1267 Country Club Blvd, Stockton-Well Destructions —COR-240943—
Hi
COR-240943Hi Dennis,
Grouting the wells does not meet our standards when they are found with contamination. Can you provide us with an
alternative destruction method that meets your safety issues while meeting our destruction requirements that all well
contents are removed?
An alternative that we will accept is the use of explosives that destroys the casing to allow grout into the annual space
and fully seals off the entire filter pack and the clay lens above it. PG&E has allowed the use of explosives to destroy a
monitoring well within 5 feet of their gas line, when the first charge is placed 20 feet below the surface and the grout is
placed in the well before detonation.
Water Well Tech Inc. was granted this approval by PG&E, if you need an explosive contract who knows how to use
explosives within the city, within utility lines, and at gas stations. If he is not able to explode this well, if you choose to
uses this method, let me know.
Thanks
Adrienne
i
