Adrienne Ellsaesser [EH]
From: Adrienne Ellsaesser [EH]
Sent: Friday, January 23, 2015 9:18 AM
To: 'Baertschi, Dennis'
Cc: Project Email Filing;John Yoakum [EH]
Subject: RE: 240943- 1267 Country Club Blvd, Stockton-Well Destructions —COR-240943—
Hi
COR-240943Hi Dennis,
Grouting the wells does not meet our standards when they are found with contamination. Can you provide us with an
alternative destruction method that meets your safety issues while meeting our destruction requirements that all well
contents are removed?
An alternative that we will accept is the use of explosives that destroys the casing to allow grout into the annual space
and fully seals off the entire filter pack and the clay lens above it. PG&E has allowed the use of explosives to destroy a
monitoring well within 5 feet of their gas line, when the first charge is placed 20 feet below the surface and the grout is
placed in the well before detonation.
Water Well Tech Inc. was granted this approval by PG&E, if you need an explosive contract who knows how to use
explosives within the city, within utility lines, and at gas stations. If he is not able to explode this well, if you choose to
uses this method, let me know.
Thanks
Adrienne
From: Baertschi, Dennis [mailto:dbaertschi(dcraworld com]
Sent: Thursday, January 22, 2015 2:58 PM
To: Adrienne Ellsaesser [EH]
Cc: Project Email Filing; Baertschi, Dennis
Subject: 240943- 1267 Country Club Blvd, Stockton-Well Destructions —COR-240943—
Importance: High
Hi Adrienne,
We are at the above site this week completing well destructions. We are doing airknife clearing (to 5 feet deep) today
and have a situation where we have concerns about the proximity of an electrical line near wells S-4 and S-11
(attached Site Map shows the location of these wells—near corner of Country Club & Pershing; and the attached photo
shows the marked electrical line (in pink) and its proximity to wells S-4 and 5-11, with 5-11 being at bottom of the
picture).
The line was identified by our private utility locate service sub, and is a traffic control electrical line that goes from an
electrical box in the sidewalk (out of the picture and locate just before you approach 5-11) and runs to another electrical
box that feeds the traffic signal pictured at the corner of Country Club & Pershing (you can just see the traffic light's
metal post). The location of this line was re-confirmed today by the City of Stockton and also confirmed today by
Potholing and physical locating it. This line is about 1 foot away from our well 5-11 and about 3 feet from our well S-
4. These two wells were proposed to be over drilled because during the last groundwater sample event there was very
low level diesel hits in both wells. We have obvious great safety concerns with overdrilling these two wells because of 1)
the very close proximity of the line to our wells, and 2) because it is an electrical line which can cause serious injury in a
case of a accidental incident. Over-drilling well 5-11 presents the highest risk because the electrical line is so close.
1
