Eight soil borings were drilled and soil samples were collected by GCI during April 1995 Ground <br /> water samples were also collected from three of the borings Samples were analyzed for Total <br /> • Petroleum Hydrocarbons calculated as Gasoline and Diesel (TPH-G and TPH-D) and Benzene, <br /> Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylenes (BTEX) Samples in the vicinity of the former waste oil tank <br /> were also analyzed for Total Recoverable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TRPH) <br /> Concentrations of TPH-G in soils ranged from non-detect (ND) to 1,900 parts per million (ppm) <br /> TPH-D concentrations ranged from ND to 700 ppm Benzene concentrations ranged from ND to <br /> 3 9 ppm <br /> Ground water samples contained TPH-G concentrations ranging from 23,000 parts per billion (ppb) <br /> to 150,000 ppb, TPH-D concentrations ranging from 1,600 to 12,000 ppb, and benzene <br /> concentrations ranging from 970 ppb to 13,000 ppb <br /> Five soil borings were drilled and soil and ground water samples were collected during site <br /> investigation activities performed by Enviros on behalf of Shell Oil Products Company (Shell) in <br /> April 1997 Concentrations of Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPPH) in soil ranged <br /> from none detected (ND) to 890 ppm Concentrations of Total Extractable Petroleum <br /> Hydrocarbons (TEPH) in soil ranged from 1 3 ppm to 260 ppm Benzene concentrations in soil <br /> ranged from ND to 0 11 ppm Ground water samples collected from the borings contained TPPH <br /> concentrations ranging from ND to 38,000 ppb, TEPH concentrations ranging from 430 to 25,000 <br /> ppb, and benzene concentrations ranging from ND to 1,900 ppb <br /> INVESTIGATION RESULTS <br /> Soil Borings <br /> Personnel Present Geologist Joe Neely directed drilling activities, working under the <br /> supervision of California Registered Professional Engineer Diane <br /> Lundquist <br /> Permit Boring permits were obtained from the SJCPHS Copies of the <br /> permits are presented in Appendix A <br /> Drilling Company Gregg Drilling (C57 485165) and Gregg In-Situ (C57 656407) <br /> Drilling Date: February 17, 19, and 20, 1998 <br /> Drilling Metliods: Cone Penetrometer Testing (CPT) and Hollow Stem Auger <br /> 240-0943 2 <br />
