The Cortese list is a compilation of potential and confirmed hazardous waste and substance
sites throughout California that is maintained by WRCB, IWMB, and DHS The records,
which were current as of November 1990, indicate two Cortese list sites in the study area
the service station and auto repair facilities identified in the LUST records The service
station at 1403 Country Club Boulevard was a Mobil station at the time of its inclusion in
the Cortese list
The Bond Expenditure Plan (BEP) list includes facilities for which funds have been
appropriated for investigation and/or remediation under the California Hazardous
Substance Bond Act of 1984. The list, which is maintained by DHS and was current as of
January 1990, indicates no BEP sites within the study area
The CAL-SITES list is compiled by DHS and contains information on potential hazardous
waste sites that have been identified by the Historical Abandoned Site Survey Program
Once sites are confirmed as hazardous waste sites, they may be added to the CORTESE
and/or BEP lists. Sites may remain on the list even though a determination has been made
that no leak has occurred and DHS is requiring no further action The records, which were
current as of August 1994, indicate no CAL-SITES facilities within the study area
The Waste Discharge Systems (AIDS) database is maintained by the State of California,
Environmental Affairs Agency, Office of Hazardous Material Data Management This
database contain information on sites that have been issued waste discharge requirements
Under state and federal regulations, generators are allowed to discharge specified levels of
wastewater toxics to publicly owned treatment works (POTWs) The records, which were
current as of August 1994, indicate eight WDS sites within the study area The available
data are insufficient to locate all of these facilities, however, the Forward, Inc landfill,
located several miles to the southeast, appears to be the closest This is a Class III
(nonhazardous) landfill. It is unlikely that discharge from any of these facilities has
adversely impacted the subsurface environment at the subject site
4-4
GEM SYSTEM
Consultants, Inc
