While I have your attention, I wanted to talk to you about the destruction methods that would be appropriate for the
offsite wells(MW-8; MW-9, MW-10).
It appears clear that following the SJCEHD criteria for pressure grouting versus overdrilling that most of the monitoring
wells will need to be overdrilled.
But I would like to have you look at the data from the offsite wells MW-8, MW-9, MW-10, and see if you think we have
any wiggle room for pressure grouting these wells.
Even though contamination was detected in these wells, the concentrations were below the MCLS, with two exceptions
in MW-9 in 2001Q4 and 2003Q1. In the first case in 2001Q4,the concentration was right at the MCL. In the second
isolated gase whereas the second hit, though well above the MCL,was not sustained for even two consecutive
periods. I would also like to pressure grout MW-8, MW-9, MW-10, because they are in or along the street shoulder,
where safety is a concern. If we can pressure grout these three wells than it will minimize the amount of time all of you
will be subject to being hit by traffic. I just think the risk to human life due to traffic exposure, is far and away greater
than the difference between overdrilling or pressure grouting these wells.
Let me know what you think.
Oh by the way I will be out of the office tomorrow for my Uncles funeral. If we can get the mailing list issue resolved, I
will have our clerical staff send out the notices tomorrow in my absence.
Thanks!
Michael D.
