The area surrounding the site is mainly residential with eight schools Iocated
within a one mile radius. The nearest surface water is Yosemite Lake, approximately 1300
feet to the east-southeast of the site.
1.2 Site History
BP Station No. 11192 was built in 1976 and operated by Mobil Oil Company until it;:gas
purchased by BP Oil in May 1989. A soil gas survey was conducted at the Station in March
1989 by Target Enviro:unental Services,Inc. (for Mobil Oil Company) in order to facilitate
77 the property sale. Results of this survey revealed moderateiv high concentrations of
petroleum hydrocarbons southeast of the pump islands and along the eastern property
r,
boundary.
In July 1989,BP Oil filed an unauthorized release form with San Joaquin County based on
results of the soil gas study.
3 IT Corporation was contracted in October I989 to generate and execute a work plan for initial
- site assessment. The work plan was filed with San Joaquin County Public Health Services in
March 1990. Upon approval of the work plan in April, four monitoring wells were installed
- on sits by representatives of IT Corporation. Analysis of soil and groundwater revealed the
presence of petroleum hydrocarbons.
In January 1991,the station closed for renovation. The tanks and dispenser is were
removed in February: A well (MW-2) was abandoned during construction efforts so that the
new tanks could be installed in that location.
M7110-21-9 t/tISTM14NI1_R I
