A M B R I A <br /> SAMPLING ACTIVITIES AND SAMPLE ANALYSES <br /> UST Removal- Two 15,000-gallon fiberglass gasoline USTs were removed on <br /> November 5, 2004 by Paradiso Mechanical, Inc of San Leandro, California Mr Mike Infurna <br /> and Mr John Jackson of SJCEHD and Cambria field staff were present to witness the removal <br /> and condition of the tanks Both tanks were in good condition, with no signs of failure <br /> UST Soil Sampling With guidance from Mr Infurna, Cambria staff collected three soil samples <br /> beneath each of the USTs and two water samples from the UST pit Six soil samples (TIN, <br /> TIM, TIS, T2N, T2M, T2S) were collected from the fuel UST excavation at depths of 17 to <br /> 18 fbg in native soil, and two water samples (TP-1-AQ and TP-2-AQ) were collected from the <br /> tank pit Soil samples were collected from the tank pit using an excavator The soil was <br /> removed from the excavator bucket, packed into clean brass sample tubes, and the tube ends <br /> were covered with Teflon tape and plastic end caps Grab water samples were collected using a <br /> bailer Sampling locations are shown on Figure 2 <br /> Dispenser and Product Piping Soil Sampling: The product dispensers and the associated <br /> product piping were removed prior to Cambria's arrival onsite Four soil samples (D-1 through <br /> 134) were collected beneath the dispensers and eight soil samples (P-1 through P-8) were <br /> collected beneath the piping at approximate depths ranging from 2 5 to 5 5 fbg (Figure 2) Soil <br /> samples were collected from native soil in the same manner described above using a backhoe <br /> Waste Oil Tank Removal: One 550-gallon waste oil tank and two hoists were removed on <br /> November 5, 2004 by Paradiso Mechanical, Inc of San Leandro, California SJCEHD staff and <br /> Cambria field staff were present to witness the removal and condition of the tank The tank was <br /> in good condition, with no signs of failure <br /> Waste Oil Tank Soil Sampling: Cambria staff collected one soil sample (T-3)beneath the waste <br /> oil tank at 10 fbg and one soil sample beneath each hoist at 8 fbg (H-1 and H-2) The soil <br /> samples were collected using an excavator <br /> Soil Chemical Analyses All soil samples were labeled, placed into a cooler with ice, entered <br /> onto a chain of custody record, and transported to a California-certified analytical laboratory <br /> Soil samples collected beneath the fuel USTs, dispensers and associated piping were analyzed <br /> for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes <br /> (BTEX), and fuel oxygenates (methyl tertiary butyl ether [MTBE], di-isopropyl ether, ethyl <br /> tertiary butyl ether, tertiary butyl alcohol [TBA], and tertiary amyl methyl ether) by EPA Method <br /> 8260B The soil samples collected beneath the hoists were analyzed for total petroleum <br /> 0783 2 <br />
