CAB R I A
Additional Detail Regarding the Spill Pathway- The spill occurred from a holding tank inside
our remediation compound The remediation compound is located behind the station building
The spilled water flowed south, over the asphalt pavement, to a drop inlet located onsite near the
southern property line This drop inlet feeds to the curb gutter on the north side of Country Club
Boulevard The water flowed west to the corner of Country Club Boulevard and Plymouth Road,
where it turned to the north The water then flowed into the storm dram inlet, which is located at
the northern property line The total distance the spilled water traveled on the ground surface
prior to entering the storm dram was approximately 385 feet
Time
According to Cambria's field staff notes, the spill was discovered at 6 05 PM, not at 6 25 PM as
reported in the OMI report And for the sake of clarity, 6 05 PM is the time the spill was
discovered, not the time the spill began
Duration
OMI reports the duration of the spill as "Unknown, up to 8 consecutive days at a flow rate of S S
gallons per minute" We believe this is an over estimation of the spill duration We contacted
Mr Michael Infurna of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) who
had visited the site on August 3, 2004 at 11 30 AM Mr Infurna is the EHD representative
responsible for oversight of the environmental case for this property He is deeply involved with
the particulars of this environmental case and is aware of the groundwater remediation system
operating at this site Mr Infurna was visiting the site to post public notification signs for
corrective action Shell proposed at this site One of the signs Mr Infurna posted was
immediately adjacent to the onsite drop inlet where the spilled water entered We asked Mr
Infurna if he observed any surface water onsite during his site visit, and he told us that he did not
Mr Infurna commented that had there been any surface water onsite during his visit, he is
confident he would have noticed it and called Cambria to report a possible leak from our
remediation system
Using 11 30 AM on August 3 as an assumed spill start time, and 6 05 PM on August 5d' as the
spill discovery time, the maximum duration of the spill would be approximately 2 days and 6 5
hours, or 54 5 hours
i
0783 2
