• San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division P IMMIX <br /> December 21, 1994 (94-47-8620) <br /> Soil and Groundwater Sample Analyses <br /> Soil and groundwater samples will be delivered under chain-of-custody to Sequoia Analytical <br /> Laboratories of Sacramento, California, a state-certified laboratory, for chemical analysis The <br /> following analyses are proposed <br /> a) TPH-G, by EPA Method 8015 (Modified) <br /> b) BTEX, by EPA Method 8020 <br /> Laboratory practical quantitation or detection limits will follow appropriate regulatory agency <br /> guidelines <br /> A site-specific safety plan has been prepared by Fugro and will be on site during all field work <br /> Soil and Waste Water Disposition <br /> The CPT system employs a self-contained decontamination process As the rods are extracted, <br /> they are pulled through a box containing brushes and high pressure nozzles Rinsate is carried <br /> by hose to a nearby labeled 55-gallon drum <br /> Soil cuttings will not be generated until Phase 3 of the investigation Cuttings will be <br /> temporarily stored on site on and under plastic sheeting The cuttings will be profiled for <br /> disposal at an appropriate landfill <br /> Hollow-stem auger, sampling equipment ansate and well purge water will be stored on site in <br /> labeled 55-gallon drums, pending disposal arrangements <br /> Public Health Concerns <br /> Site conditions do not appear to pose any immediate threat to public health No conduits appear <br /> to exist on site that may provide an immediate pathway for the migration of petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons from the tank basin No volatile vapors have been detected in nearby utility vaults <br /> with a field monitoring instrument (see Figure 2) Fugro also monitored vapors in a playground <br /> north of the Catholic church No volatile organics were detected It is our opinion that any <br /> potential threat to groundwater or to public health can be diminished by proceeding with the field <br /> work as soon as possible <br /> i <br /> 94478620 AWP -4- <br />
