PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES
SAN JOAQUM COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DMSION
Karen Furst,M.D., M.P.H., Health Officer
304 East Weber Avenue,Third Floor- Stockton, CA 95202
209/468-3420
PY
MARLA GUENSLER C(O
EXXON COMPANY USA FEB 2 7 10
PO BOX 4032
CONCORD CA 94524-4032
RE: Exxon #73708 SITE CODE: 1072
2705 Country Club Blvd.
Stockton, CA., 95204
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS-EHD) has reviewed the "Quarterly Ground Water Monitoring Report,
Fourth Quarter 1997" dated January 6, 1998 as submitted by Delta
Environmental to PHS-EHD on January 20, 1998 and has the following
comments.
Of the eight monitoring wells sampled on November 24, 1997, only MW-7 did not
contain any gasoline constituents. Analysis by EPA Method 8260 indicated that
all of the seven other wells contained MTBE and only MW-3 noted Benzene at
1.0 ugA (ppb). With this current low level of contaminants noted across the site,
PHS-EHD is re-evaluating this site for remediation.
In a phone conversation with Mr. Keoni Almeida of Delta Environmental on
November 17, 1997, Mr. Michael Infuma (PHS-EHD) discussed his review of
Exxon's "Pilot Testing Results and Proposed Remedial Action Plan" dated
August 20, 1997 as submitted by Delta to PHS-EHD on October 27, 1997. The
items discussed included the possible "source" of Benzene only contamination
noted only in MW-3, the lateral limit of the groundwater plume in the down-
gradient direction, and that currently no soil data exists from 20 feet below
ground (the historical deepest depth to first groundwater).
Mr. Infuma advised that once the site was fully assessed he would review the
results of feasibility studies (including the actual cost and time breakdown) that
were to be contained in a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) that is to be submitted to
PHS-EHD for review.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Cue Services
