The report,prepared by ETIC Engineering,Inc.of Pleasant Hill,California,
details the results of the September 2003 sampling event.
The former ExxonMobil site is located immediately east of active 7-Eleven facility No. 14117. ExxonMobil
well MW7 is an upgradient well and is located approximately 60 feet from the neighboring 7-Eleven
underground storage tanks. MTBE was first detected in upgradient well MW7 in August 2000,almost 5 years
after ExxonMobil sold the property. TBA was first detected in upgradient well MW7 in March 2002, 6 years
after ExxonMobil sold the property. Currently the TBA and MTBE concentrations in MW7 are 8,610 pg/L and
3.80 pg/L,respectively. The active 7-Eleven facility No. 14117 is the likely offsite source for these compounds.
In addition to offsite sources potentially migrating onsite, recent increases in groundwater concentrations in
ExxonMobil well VEW3 resulted in the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD)
issuing Palisades Gas and Wash,Inc.,the current property owner,a Notice of Responsibility dated February 3,
2003. At ExxonMobil's request, Bingham McCutchen, LLP of Los Angeles, California, commented on the
petition filed on March 25,2003 by Palisades with the State Water Resources Control Board(SWRCB),which
challenged SJCEHD's designation of Palisades as a responsible party for the above-referenced site. Currently,
the SWRCB is reviewing the case history and comments from all parties to determine if Palisades is a
responsible party. After completion of this review period, ExxonMobil intends to request to be removed as a
responsible party for this site based on the current onsite and offsite unauthorized releases which are impacting
the site.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at 510.547.8196.
Sincerely,

Jennifer C.
