Mr.Michael Infuma,SJCEHD November 18,2011
Well Destruction Report Project No.2007-0835-01
Former Palisades G&W Station No.835,Stockton,California
Page 2
November 14 and 17, 2011. A total of 23 wells (MW-1 through MW-2 1, VEW-1, and
VEW 3) were destroyed. Each well was overdrilled using 8-inch hollow stem augers (2-inch
diameter wells) or 10-inch diameter hollow stem augers (4-inch diameter wells). Following
overdrilling, each well was backfilled to surface grade with neat cement. After curing of the
cement, the ground surface was patched to match the surrounding area.
Soil cuttings and wastewater generated during work were containerized in 55-gallon steel
drums, properly labeled, and stored at the site pending disposal. A sample of the soil cuttings
was collected and submitted for laboratory analytical testing. Once the laboratory results are
received, the material will be profiled into an appropriate acceptance facility. Integrated
Wastestream Management (IWM) of San Jose will be retained to transport the drummed
material offsite for disposal.
Following completion of the work, Stratus submitted well destruction forms to the California
Department of Water Resources (DWR) on behalf of All Well Abandonment, Inc. Copies of
these forms will be provided to SJCEHD upon request.
CLOSING
It is our understanding that upon completion of well destruction activities, PG&W has
satisfied all of the requirements pertaining to the environmental issues for the subject
property. On behalf of PG&W, Stratus is thus requesting that the open environmental case(s)
for the subject property be closed, and a No Further Action Required(NFAR)letter be issued.
If you have any questions or comments concerning this report, please contact Scott Bittinger
at(530) 676-2062.
D GCa
Sincerely,
STRATUS ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
