r
Mr. Michael J. Infurna
January 9, 1992
Page 2
0 Measure water levels in all wells(NNW-1 through MW-6).
• Collect ground water samples from monitoring wells MW-4, MW-5, and MW-6 for
laboratory analysis.
• Submit ground water samples to a California-certified laboratory for chemical analysis of
BTEX and TPH as gasoline.
6 Prepare a report with our findings.
Soli ]brines.5011 Sample Collection arrd Screening
Three soil borings are proposed at the locations shown in Figure 2. Each boring will be advanced
to a depth of approximately 30 feet below the surface. Soil samples will be collected at
approximately 5-foot intervals with a California-modified split-barrel sampler. A representative
ned icor organic vapors using a PID calibrated to hexane. The
portion of each sample will be sere,
r` soil sample with the highest PID readitig and the soil sample collected just above the static ground
water level will be submitted for laboratory analysis. These soil samples will be submitted for
laboratory analysis to determine t-r;e concentration of BTEX and TPH as gasoline. Soil s?mploa will
be classified according to the unified Soil Classification System (USCS) and described en tete logs
with any pertinent information about the drilling methods or conditions encountered.
Monitpring Wells and Ground Water Sampling
Ground water monitoring wells MW-4, MW-5, and MW-6, will be installed in the corresponding
borings shown in Figure 2. A detail of the proposed monitoring well construction is presented in
Figure 3. The cement-bentonite sea'placed in the annular space between the monitoring well casing
and the borehole will be tremied. Following installation, each well will be daveloped with a bailer
or pump. After developing each well, a gr(.und water sample will be collected and submitted for
laboratory analysis to determine the concentration of BTEX and TPH as gasoline. All field work
performed at the site by Delta including the methods used to drill and sample soils and ground water,
the analytical procedures, and quality assurance and quality control are presented in Enclosure A.
The site Health and Safety.Plan that will be used by field personnel conducting work at the site is also
presented in Enclosure A.
Schedule
Delta is currently working with the City of Stockton Public Works Department, to obtain an
encroachment permit to install the proposed monitoring wells on the city right-of-way. As soon as
the encroachment permit is obtained from the City of Stockton, a copy will be forwarded to your
office.
