I
-. A-2
1A Monitoring Well Gravel pack and Slot S ze Seleciloil
The gravel pack will be selected such.that it will permit the development of a zone of higher hydraulic
conductivity adjacent to the well scree:I but will not glow piping of the finer-grained formation into the well
bore. The slot size of thy well screen will be selected such that it will retain a minimum of 95 percent of
the gravel pack material.
LS Monitorina Well Development
After mi-nitoring wells are installed, each monitoring well will be dmcloped by removing 3-3 wetted casing
volumes of ground water by bailing or pumping. If the well yield is lorV; surging will be used as an
alternative to bailing or pumping, but a minimum of I-1/2 well volumes will still be removed. No water or
chemicals will be introduced into the monitoring wells during well development. All developed water will
be placed in drums or site fog later disposal.
1.6 Graund Water Sam Irl Y;a:.
Three to five wetted casing volumes of liquid will be removed from each weal Lw bailing or pumping with
' a clean disp ble bailer. A liquid sample will then be collected from each well with a cleaned disposable
bailer, Each sample will be appropriately labeled and stored on ice from the time of collection through the
time o°delivery to the laboratory. Ground water samples will be transported to the laboratory and analyzed
within the EPA-specified holding times for the requested analyses.
1.7 Uguld Phase I3Yurocurbons
If liquid phase hydrocarbons(LPH)are present in a well, the ttd6mess of Oe LPH layer w:11 be measured
1;
by collecting a sample in a transparent disposable bailer with a check valve at the bottoms or by
measurement using appropriate fluid-level sounding equipment.
2.0 ANALVnCAL PROCIEDURFS`
Selected s:.il samples and ground water samples submitted to the laboratory will be analyzed for BTEX and
TPH as gasoline tying EPA Method 801518(r.O.
