Mr Michael Infurna, SJCEHD June 17,2005 • Site Investigation Work Plan Palisades Station No 835, Stockton,CA Page 2 In March 1994, single-walled gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) used to store gasoline (one 6,000-gallon capacity, one 8,000-gallon capacity, and one 10,000-gallon capacity), and the gasoline product lines and fuel pump islands were removed from the northeastern portion of site A waste oil UST, formerly located in the northwestern portion of the property, was also removed at this time Double-walled fiberglass USTs (one diesel and one gasoline) were subsequently installed in a new cavity located in the east central portion of the site A new fuel dispenser island, located in the southeastern portion of the property, was also constructed The locations of the former and current USTs and pump islands, and the configuration of the facility, are shown on Figure 2 SITE VICINITY Motor vehicle fuels were also released to the subsurface at 2725 Country Club Boulevard, an active 7-11 service station (#14117) situated immediately west of the Palisades service station Soil and groundwater beneath this 7-11 facility are impacted with total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), and tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) The location of the 7-11 station#14117 is shown on Figure 3 A Shell station formerly operated at 2575 Country Club Boulevard, approximately 450 feet east of the site Soil and groundwater beneath this property is also impacted with TPHG, BTEX, MTBE, and TBA A pump and treat groundwater remediation system is currently being operated on behalf of Shell The location of this former Shell station is illustrated on Figure 4 BACKGROUND The following discussion was based on a review of available records at San Joaquin County Environinental Health Department (SJCEHD) Subsurface petroleum hydrocarbon impact was initially reported at the site in September 1991, and Exxon (now ExxonMobil) was named as the responsible party for a fuel release at this time All previous environmental assessment and remediation activities at this site were completed on behalf of ExxonMobil All monitoring and extraction wells situated at the site are currently owned by ExxonMobil, and a consultant representing Exxon (ETIC Engineering, Inc [ETIC]) is currently completing groundwater monitoring and sampling at the site I In July 2002, SJCEHD filed an Unauthorized Release Report (URR), naming Palisades as the responsible party of an additional subsurface fuel release at the site The July 2002 URR was filed following a significant increase in dissolved MTBE concentrations at a well situated in relative close proximity to the UST complex Following completion of an Enhanced Leak Detection test in April 2003, SJCEHD filed an additional URR K\USA Gasoline10835Mork Plans\pahsades835 workplan 06-17-05 doc SrkAWO
