Mr Michael Infurna, SJCEHD June 17,2005
Site Investigation Work Plan
Palisades Station No 835, Stockton, CA
Page 7
Following the CPT work, soil and groundwater samples will be collected from a separate
boring, located approximately 2 feet from the initial CPT boring A minimum of three soil
and three groundwater samples will be collected from each of the direct push borings
HydropunchTm sampling equipment will be used to collect the groundwater samples at
desired depth intervals, based on the continuous log generated from the CPT The
HydropuncIP sampler will be pushed to the bottom of the sampling interval using 2-inch
diameter steel rods The steel rods are subsequently retracted approximately four feet,
exposing the screen, to allow for the collection of depth discreet groundwater samples Soil
samples will be collected by pushing hollow rods (approximately 1 7 inches in diameter)
equipped with a piston-type sampler into native soil Upon completion of sampling, the
direct-push boring will be pressure grouted from the bottom of the borehole up to surface
grade
Task 3- Laboratory Analysis
Soil and groundwater samples will be forwarded to a state-certified analytical laboratory
for chemical analysis The samples will be analyzed for TPHG using U S Environmental
Protection Agency (USEPA) Method 8015B/DHS LUFT, and for BTEX, MTBE, TBA,
TAME, Ethyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (ETBE), Di-isopropyl Ether (D1PE), and
1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) using USEPA Method 8260B
Task 4: Report Preparation
After completing the field activities and receiving the laboratory results, Stratus will
prepare a report documenting the activities completed The report will include, but not be
limited to, a scaled site plan, a soil and groundwater sampling log, analytical data tables,
certified analytical reports, and a geologic cross section
SCHEDULE
Following approval of this Work Plan, soil boring permits will be secured from SJCEHD
and the work will be scheduled Approximately 3 weeks will likely be necessary for a
C-57 licensed contractor to become available The report documenting work activities will
be submitted within approximately 6 weeks of receiving all analytical results
K\USA Gasoline\0835\Work Plans\palisades835 workplan 06-17-05 doc OMATUS
