DISCUSSION
• Previous groundwater monitoring and reporting activities were completed by consultants representing
Exxon Mobil This is the first monitoring and sampling event completed on behalf of Palisades
At the time of the third quarter 2005 monitoring event, groundwater levels had decreased between 0 19
and 0 70 feet In all wells since the previous sampling event (June 27, 2005) Depth-to-water
measurements were corrected to mean sea level (MSL) and used to construct a groundwater elevation
contour map (Figure 2) Groundwater flow beneath the site was generally to the northeast at an average
gradient of 0 0018 ft/ft Southeast groundwater flow directions have predominantly been reported during
previous monitoring events
TPHG and MTBE were reported in wells MW-1, MW-3, MW-8, and MW-10 MTBE was also reported in
wells MW-2, MW-4, MW-7, MW-9, and VEW-1 The highest concentrations of TPHG (640 Pg/L) and
MTBE (1,100 gglL) were reported in well MW-8 TBA was reported in wells MW-3 (190 pg/L), MW-8
(2,400 pg/L), and VEW-3 (280,000 pgll-) TAME (5 5 pg/L) was reported in well MW-8 TPHD, BTEX,
DIPE, ETBE, 1,2-DCA, methanol, or ethanol were not reported in any of the wells The laboratory
reported that the pH levels in the samples collected from wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, MW-6,
MW-9, and VEW-3 were above the EPA recommended limit of 2 Analytical results of TPHG, benzene,
and MTBE for groundwater samples collected on September 28, 2005, are presented In Figure 3
ATTACHMENTS
® Table 1 Groundwater Elevation and Analytical Summary
o Table 2 Groundwater Analytical Results for Oxygenates
• Figure 1 Site Location Map
o Figure 2 Groundwater Elevation Contour Map (Third Quarter 2005)
o Figure 3 Groundwater Analytical Summary (Third Quarter 2005)
o Appendix A Field Data Sheets
Appendix B Sampling and Analysis Procedures
o Appendix C Certified Analytical Reports and Chain-of-Custody Documentation
•
K\USA Gasoline\0835\Quarterly\2005\USA_835_3Q05 DOC 5TRAW5
