REPORT ON ADDITIONAL SITE ASSESSMENT AND RECOMMENDATIONS 3 <br /> 7-Eleven Store No 14117,2725 Country Club Blvd,Stockton,CA December 12,2001 <br /> ' 30 ADDITIONAL SOIL AND GROUNDWATER ASSESSMENT <br /> 31 Perm uting/Site-Spec rfic Health and Safety Plan <br /> Permits for the Installation of the groundwater monitoring wells were applied for and obtained from <br /> ' the appropriate agencies prior to drilling The existing site-specific Health and Safety Plan was used <br /> during field operations as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Standard <br /> ' Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response guidelines (29 Code of Federal <br /> Regulations 1910 120) The document was reviewed and signed by all IT Corporation personnel and <br /> ' subcontractors during site activities <br /> 32 Soil Borings <br /> On October 30, 2001, IT Corporation supervised the drilling of three soil borings to a depth of about <br /> 20 feet below grade, utilizing a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 8-Inch outside-diameter (O D) <br /> hollow-stem augers All drilling equipment was steam cleaned pnor to drilling each boring, and <br /> sampling equipment was washed in an Alconox®(detergent)solution and rinsed with water between <br /> sampling intervals All soil and rinse water generated during the drilling was placed in labeled <br /> ' Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums and left on the site pending <br /> transportation and disposal <br /> 33 Soil Sample Collection <br /> Soil samples were collected from each borehole at 5-foot depth intervals from 5 feet below grade <br /> ' to total depth Samples were collected using a 2-inch O D California split-spoon sampler, lined <br /> with three 1 5-inch-diameter by 6-inch-long brass tubes The sampler was driven 18 inches ahead <br /> ' of the augers at each sample point Soil samples were field screened for hydrocarbon vapors <br /> using a photo-Ionization detector Soil was logged using the Unified Soil Classification System by <br /> an IT Corporation California registered geologist(Appendix A) One sample tube from each <br /> ' sampling interval was sealed, labeled, and placed on Ice in an Insulated container for transport <br /> under chain-of-custody to a state-certified laboratory for analysis <br /> Two samples per borehole were selected for laboratory analysis for BTEX and TPH-g using EPA <br /> Methods 8020/modified 8015, and for MTBE and other oxygenates using EPA Method 8260 In each <br /> borehole, samples from the capillary fringe (at about 10 feet below grade) and from total depth <br /> (about 20 feet below grade)were selected for analysis <br />
