Pilkington North America,Inc.
Site Background
Eight diesel recovery and skimmer O/M events were conducted at the Site from November 18, 2005
' through February 28, 2006. Free product was observed in recovery wells RW-2, RW-3, RW4, and RW-
6. A total of approximately 15.59 gallons of product was recovered during the monitoring and recovery
period. A cumulative total of approximately 164.44 gallons of diesel have been recovered from the Site's
recovery wells since skimming operations commenced in June 1999.
tDuring the first quarterly monitoring event conducted at the Site on February 28, 2006, Condor sampled
monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3, and the SE sump and SW sump. Groundwater elevation
' measurements collected on February 28, 2006 indicated that the average groundwater elevation increased
by 1.52 feet since the previous monitoring event. The calculated groundwater gradient was 0.0032 ft/ft to
the east. TPH-D, TPH-K, and TPH-MO were not detected at or above the laboratory reported detection
' limits in monitoring wells MW-1, MW-3, or the SE sump. TPH-D was detected in MW-2 and the SW
sump at 0.133 mg/L and 2.80 mg/L, respectively.
1 Nine diesel recovery and skimmer O/M events were conducted at the Site from March 9, 2006 through
May 25, 2006. Free product was observed in four recovery wells (RW-2, RW-3, RW-4, and RW-6). A
total of approximately 7.67 gallons of product was recovered during the monitoring and recovery period.
' Product recovery from the Site's recovery wells has produced a cumulative total of approximately 172.11
gallons of recovered diesel.
During the second quarter groundwater monitoring event conducted on May 25, 2006, Condor sampled
' monitor wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3, and the SE sump and SW sump. Groundwater elevation data
collected the same day indicated that the average groundwater elevation had increased by 1.09 feet since
the February 28, 2006 monitoring event. The calculated groundwater gradient was 0.009 ft/ft to the south.
The bottle containing the sample collected from monitoring well MW-1 was broken at the laboratory, and
consequently another sample was collected from monitoring well MW-1 on June 1, 2006. TPH-D was
detected in MW-2 and the SW sump at concentrations of 0.108 mg/L and 2.38 mg/L, respectively.
During the third quarter groundwater monitoring event conducted on August 14 and 15, 2006, Condor
sampled the three on-site monitoring wells and the SE sump and SW sump. Groundwater elevation data
' collected on August 14, 2006 indicated that the average groundwater elevation had decreased by 0.50 foot
since the May 25, 2006 event. The calculated groundwater gradient was approximately 0.003 ft/ft to the
east. TPH-D was detected in MW-2 and the SW sump at 0.208 and 2.40 mg/L, respectively, and TPH-
, MO was detected in the SW sump at a concentration of 0.517 mg/L.
Eight diesel recovery and skimmer O/M events were conducted at the site from June 1, 2006 through
August 14, 2006. Free product was observed in RW-2, RW-3, RW-4, and RW-6. A total of approximately
0.93 gallon of product was recovered during the monitoring and recovery period, and a cumulative total
of approximately 173.04 gallons of recovered diesel has been removed via the site's recovery wells.
During the fourth quarter groundwater monitoring event conducted on November 13 and 14, 2006,
Condor sampled the three on-site monitoring wells and the SE sump and SW sump. Groundwater
elevation data collected on November 13, 2006 indicated that the average groundwater elevation had
' decreased by 0.28 foot since the August 14, 2006 event. The calculated groundwater gradient was
approximately 0.003 ft/ft to the east. TPH-D was detected in MW-2 and the SW sump at 0.111 and 1.65
mg/L,respectively, and TPH-MO was detected in the SW sump at a concentration of 13.9 mg/L.
' Seven diesel recovery and skimmer O/M events were conducted at the site from September 1 through
November 10, 2006. Free product was observed in RW-1, RW-2, RW-3, RW-4, and RW-6. A total of
approximately 1.0 gallon of product was recovered during the monitoring and recovery period, and a
1
