(LOF) is notifying the
Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) of LOF plans to
dispose of approximately 11, 500 cubic yards of petroleum
contaminated soil . The stockpiled soil was generated as a result
of two separate remediation efforts at the LOF facility.
Approximately 2, 000 cubic yards of soil was generated as the result
of a May 1992, bunker fuel release from an above-ground storage
tank. In November 1993 , LOF undertook remediation activities
related to the release of hydraulic oil in the facility' s wareroom.
As a result, approximately 9, 500 cubic yards of contaminated soil
was removed and stockpiled.
After reviewing numerous soil remediation options, LOF has decided
to dispose of the soil in a fully permitted, class II landfill,
owned by Forward, Inc. LOF anticipates that the project will begin
in early November and should take several weeks to complete. LOF
will notify the RWQCB when the project is completed.
If there are any questions, please contact me at 209-858-6202 .
Sincerely,
G
Jon Weiss
Environmental Coordinator
cc : Diane Hinson, San Joaquin County
O
PILKINGTON
