1 <br /> 21 July 2015 <br /> AGE Project No. 14-3154 <br /> Page 2 of 15 <br /> The known waste production glass area on the property extends approximately 400 feet <br /> north to south and 500 feet east to west. Following the termination of glass waste <br /> handling in the southern staging area, the glass waste area was covered with a <br /> minimum of two feet of soil imported from an area east of the waste area; the soil was <br /> then subsequently compacted and hydro-seeded. The LEA inspected the installation of <br /> the cover soil. <br /> PREVIOUS INVESTIGATION <br /> On 05 and 08 December 2014, soil borings (AB8 through AB21) were advanced in <br /> areas of the property where former glass debris and dust waste streams were <br /> historically managed/treated, stored, and disposed on the surface. Soil samples were <br /> collected at a minimum of five foot intervals from the soil borings and grab groundwater <br /> samples were collected from borings AB8, AB10, AB12, and AB16. <br /> Generally, tan, brown to dark brown, silts and sands were encountered between surface <br /> grade and approximately 15 feet below surface grade (bsg). Fine to medium, well <br /> graded sands were encountered at depths between 15 feet and 20 feet bsg and silt and <br /> clay was observed in the deepest soil samples collected at 25 feet bsg. Saturated soil <br /> was encountered at depths of 15 feet bsg; and available groundwater was present at 20 <br /> feet bsg. One soil boring detected minor glass deposited at five feet below grade. <br /> No hydrocarbon-like odors were observed in samples collected from the borings. <br /> Organic vapor was not detected beyond background values from the soil samples <br /> collected from borings AB8 through AB21 using an organic vapor meter (OVM) <br /> equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID). During boring advancement, field PID <br /> readings did not detect organic vapors above 0 parts per million volume (ppmv), with <br /> the exception of the five-foot sample at boring location AB18-5 (0.5 ppmv). <br /> Constituents of concern (petroleum) were not detected at or above laboratory reporting <br /> limits in any of the analyzed soil samples collected from the borings; volatile organic <br /> compounds (VOCs), semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs), polychlorinated bi- <br /> phenols (PCBs), and poly nuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were not detected <br /> above laboratory reporting limits. Fourteen soil samples were analyzed for CAM 17 <br /> metals; Arsenic was detected as high as 2.4 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg), chromium <br /> as high as 7.5 mg/kg, cobalt as high as 11 mg/kg, copper as high as 21 mg/kg, lead as <br /> high 6.4 mg/kg, nickel as high as 12 mg/kg, vanadium as high as 36 mg/kg and zinc as <br /> high as 78 mg/kg from all fourteen soil samples. Additional analytes of concern were not <br /> detected above laboratory reporting limits. <br /> Four groundwater samples were collected from borings AB8 through AB16 and <br /> analyzed for CAM 17 metals. Analytical results of CAM 17 metals detected <br /> concentrations of barium as high as 0.27 milligrams per liter (mg/L), chromium as high <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc. <br />
