Following section 4.3 of Amazon's Emergency Release Reporting Procedure— <br /> The Site Safety Manager or Designee will ensure that spills meeting the reporting requirements are <br /> reported immediately(within 15 minutes) to the appropriate local, state and/or federal agency. <br /> Information to be provided when reporting a spill is described in Section 6.0. Once the spill has been <br /> reported to the appropriate agency, the Site Safety Manager or Designee will notify the RSM and REM of <br /> the report and actions taken by the site. <br /> Additionally,Appendix D includes a table with California reporting requirements and timelines. <br /> Question 3: Procedures for the mitigation of a release or threatened release to minimize any potential <br /> harm or damage to persons, property, or the environment; (spill response). <br /> Question 3 Response: Spill response personnel are trained in hazmat recognition and clean up. Any staff <br /> handling hazardous waste are trained in KNET—Module 22106 "Hazardous Waste RCRA Training."Any <br /> spill cleanup associates are trained in an additional KNET—"Resource Conservation & Recovery Act <br /> (RCRA)Authorized Training."These online courses both constitute a rigorous training curriculum and an <br /> extensive final exam. <br /> Outside in the Trailer Yard,Transportation (TOM)Team members are trained in site SWPPP (stormwater <br /> pollution prevention plan)and are well versed in what to do in the event of a spill in the yard.They <br /> follow spill response Module 28950 "PMV—NETWK-STANDARD—SPILL—KIT—INSTRUCTIONS—ALL."They <br /> are also equipped with stocked spill kits,that are placed at throughout the yard, on each side of the <br /> building, at the vehicle fueling location and Guardshack, for rapid response. <br /> Response for spills are as follows: <br /> 1. Notify a Manager of the spill. Isolate the area,warn and keep others out of the area. <br /> 2. Remove ignition sources and unplug nearby electrical equipment. Notify Logistics Manager and <br /> Emergency Response Coordinator/Incident Commander. <br /> 3. Determine the risk associated with the spilled material by checking the hazard label and/or <br /> safety data sheet(SDS). <br /> 4. Stop if the spill is deemed too large or too hazardous. Wait for Emergency Response <br /> Coordinator/Incident Commander to coordinate third party clean-up. <br /> 5. Select the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) indicated on the SDS. <br /> 6. If the spill is in the vicinity of storm drains, septic/sewer drains, or other drains that could <br /> potentially be contaminated, cover the drains or use padding/absorbents to protect the drains <br /> from contamination. Do this only if it is safe to do so. <br /> 7. Place absorbent pads/booms around the edge of the spill to reduce spread. <br /> 8. Proceed with cleanup only after the Emergency Coordinator has completed the evaluation of <br /> the spill. <br /> 9. Pickup and place contaminated absorbent materials in the plastic bag provided in the spill kit. <br /> NOTE: Acid/Base spills should be neutralized prior to clean-up; sweep solid material into a <br /> plastic dust pan and place in a sealed container. <br /> 10. Clean up spill area. Be sure to decontaminate broom, dustpan, etc. Put all contaminated items <br /> including PPE into the same plastic bag. Seal the plastic bag after cleanup and prepare it for <br /> proper offsite disposal in accordance with Amazon's Regulated Waste Program. <br /> 2 <br />
