GROUND ZERO ANALYSIS,INC.
I
1714 Main,Stet
Escalon,California 95320-1927
Telephone: (209)838-9888
Facsimile: (209)838-9883
October 6, 2000
1 1
Ms. Lori Duncan
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Addendum to Workplan for Interim Remediation
North Stockton Auto Service
8709 N. Davis Road, Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Duncan-
Per today's phone conversation, we are writing on behalf of North Stockton Auto Service to provide
you with an addendum to our',October 2, 2000_ Subsurface Investigation Summary Report and
Workplan for Interim Remediation(Workplan).
The Workplan proposed excavation of contaminated soil in the vicinity of the former underground
storage tank (UST). The purpose of this addendum is to propose the installation of a soil boring to
collect soil and groundwater samples from beneath the former UST.
WORKPLAN FOR SOIL AND GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
Following the completion of excavation and backfilling, a single soil boring will be installed within
the confines of the excavation pit. A C57 licensed drilling company.will advance the, boring to,
groundwater using a hollow stem auger drill rig. Groundwater is expected to be encountered at a
depth of approximately 28-30 feet.
-Beginning at a depth of 20 feet, soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals for field
screening (odors, discolorations, FID readings), stratigraphic description and laboratory analysis.
Samples will be collected using a 2-inch diameter drive sampler lined with brass sleeves. The
portion of the sample to be analyzed will be immediately capped and preserved for submittal to
the laboratory. One groundwater sample will also be collected for analysis. The sample will be
collected by driving a Hydropunch type sampler to the desired depth and exposing the screen to
the formation. The groundwater sample will be collected using a clean bailer from which it will
be transferred directly into the appropriate sample containers.
nsautolreportsladdendum.doc
