KLE/NFELDER
BrigM1thople BigM1t Solulam.
(TCE) which are typically associated with dry cleaners. Given the age of the earliest
cleaners, Stoddard solvents will also be analyzed.
PROPOSED SERVICES
This following scope of work includes permitting, field work, laboratory analyses and
reporting based upon our understanding of current Site conditions:
Task 1 — Permitting and Pre-Field Activities
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) requires completion of a
boring/probe permit Master File Record (MFR) for the Site, potential preparation of a
workplan, and payment of fees prior to advancement of the probes. Kleinfelder will
prepare boring/probe permit applications for submittal to EHD along with the required
fees detailing the proposed work. The permits must be approved prior to field activities
and sampling. EHD usually requires up to two weeks to issue the permits.
The pushprobe subcontractor and/or Kleinfelder will contact Underground Service Alert
(USA) 48 hours prior to conducting fieldwork to notify various utilities of our proposed
subsurface assessment. Kleinfelder will additionally prepare a health and safety plan
prior to the actual field assessment.
Task 2 — Limited Soil Sampling
The purpose of the limited soil sampling is to assess if typical dry cleaning compounds
are located in subsurface soils beneath the 3406 N. Delaware and near sanitary sewer
lines in the immediate vicinity. The total expected depths of the borings range from 6 to
15 feet below ground surface (bgs), but the actual depths will be based on field
observations, difficulty associated with hand-auger advancement and approximate
invert depth of subsurface piping. Therefore, some boring depths may vary.
Kleinfelder expects two days of work and the advancement of approximately five
borings. One boring is proposed within the 3406 N. Delaware suite and one near a
lateral drain discharging to the east side of the building. A third boring will be advanced
at the drop- in location between the lateral and the main sanitary sewer. The two
remaining borings will be advanced south of 3406 N. Delaware along the main sanitary
sewer line trending south along the eastern side of the property. The interior and the
nearest lateral drainage line borings are to be advanced to depths of approximately 6
feet bgs. The three remaining boring depths are expected to range from 10 to 15 feet
bgs.
The actual boring locations will be dependent on access, surface conditions, and
potential interference with subsurface and above-ground utilities. The hard surface
areas of the sample locations will be cored by a commercial concrete coring
subcontractor.
