WEISS ASSOCIATES <br /> Agency (EPA) protocols for this analytic technique, the analytic laboratory will provide the <br /> following verification information with the analytic results <br /> ' Descriptions of the sample preparation and extraction procedures, <br /> • Spike and duplicate recovery data, <br /> 1 <br /> • Detection limits, <br /> ' Analysis sensitivities <br /> The results of the Phase I soil analyses indicate elevated concentrations of soluble <br /> hexavalent chromium, total sodium, total calcium, and total chlorides in the soil beneath Vault <br /> 8 Therefore, the soil and water samples collected next to Vault 8 in this Phase 1I investigation <br /> will be analyzed for these compounds Hexavalent chromium in soil will be analyzed using the <br /> Waste Extraction Test (WET) (CAC Tale 22, 1985) Sodium, calcium, and chlorides 1n soil will <br /> be analyzed by atomic absorption Sodium will be extracted from the soil by nitric acid <br /> digestion, while calcium and chlorides will be extracted by delonized water dilution Water <br /> samples from the monitoring well installed next to Vault 8 will be analyzed for total chromium, <br /> hexavalent chromium, sodium, calcium, and chlorides by atomic absorption <br /> ' Strict quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) will be maintained by the analytic <br /> laboratory These measures will include the following <br /> • One set of internal calibration standards for each analytic method will be analyzed <br /> ' every eight hours <br /> • Every tenth sample will be analyzed in duplicate for each analytic method <br /> ' Ode internal laboratory method blank will be analyzed for every 10 samples <br /> analyzed by each analytic method <br /> • Every tenth sample will be subjected to a spike analysis <br /> 36 FINAL REPORT <br /> A report will be prepared after completion of the sampling program This report will <br /> include <br /> D \ALL\331DWG\331P1SE0 WP Page 21 <br />
