MA
WEISS ASSOCIATE'S
Following well sampling, the top-of-casing elevation of each monitoring well will be
surveyed relative to mean sea level The horizontal location of each well will be estimated
from distances to existing on-site structures and plotted on a site base map derived from site
' plans provided by DWG We will measure the depth to ground water in each well and calculate
the ground water elevation From these data, we will generate a ground water elevation
' contour map and estimate the ground water flow direction and gradient
' The drill rig and all drilling equipment will be steam-cleaned prior to commencement
of the drilling program to remove any soil or contamination on the equipment Between holes,
all equipment which may have come in contact with the soil will be steam-cleaned to reduce
' the possibility of cross-contamination between holes The split-barrel soil sampler will be
washed with detergent and tap water and rinsed first with tap water and then with dclonlzed
' water before use and between samples All equipment which may have contacted groundwater
during well development will be steam-cleaned before use and after developing each well
Prior to well sampling, the bailers used to purge and sample the wells will be washed
with detergent and tap water, rinsed with tap water, and finally rinsed with deionized water
The bailers will then be allowed to air-dry prior to sampling Plastic sheeting will be laid on
the ground near the well to prevent well sampling equipment from contacting the ground
The cuttings collected from the soil borings and the ground water purged from the wells
during well development and sampling will be stored in appropriate containers The results of
the soil and ground water analyses will be used to determine the appropriate disposal methods
' for the soil and waste water
' 35 CHEMICAL ANALYSIS
1
' Samples will be analyzed at a California Department of Health Services(DHS)approved
analytic laboratory using EPA-approved analytic techniques according to the following
analytic schedule
Soil and water samples collected next to Vaults 1 and 6 will be analyzed for propylene
glycol and ethylene glycol by gas chromatography/flange ionization detection using a "DB Wax"
megabore-type chromatographic column Since there arc no existing Environmental Protection
' D \ALL\331DWG\331P1SE0 WP Page 20
