20 February 1996
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0197
and 663-6W) and chains-of-custody are included in Appendix C.
' 5.0. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
5.L HYDROCARBON-RvIPACTED SOIL
1 The data indicates that low concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons exist beneath the pump fuel
island and UST area located on the south portion of the property. The data also indicates that
1 impacted soil at the site is located only in the lower vadose zone and capillary fringe areas. We
recommend further assessment of the UST area and of the pump fuel island located on the southern
portion of the property.
5.2. HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED GROUND WATER
1
The highest concentrations of dissolved'hydrocarbons were detected in the ground water sample
collected from probing B3, located near the UST area. TPH-d was also detected in the sample
collected from probing B6, indicating that impacted ground water may extend off-site toward the
east.
iInstallation of on-site and off-site ground water monitoring wells is recommended to determine the
lateral extent of hydrocarbon-impacted ground water. One ground water monitoring well should be
1 installed on the western portion of the property; two ground water monitoring wells should be
installed along the eastern portion of the property; and one ground water monitoring well should be
installed on the city right of way, east of the site in Harrisburg street.
1
6.0. LIMITATIONS
1 Ourp rofessional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities. The findings were based mainly upon
' analytical results provided by an independent laboratory. Evaluations of the geologic/hydrogeologic
conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number of available
data points(i.e. grab water samples and soil samples) and subsurface conditions may, vary away from
' these data points. No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional
recommendations contained in this report.
1 -
1
