1. INTRODUCTION
Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. (Geosyntec) is pleased to present this Phase 11
Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) Work Plan (Work Plan) to Nestle Direct Store
Delivery Company (Nestle) to evaluate the Recognized Environmental Conditions
(RECs) and historic RECs identified by Geosyntec at the property located at 1351
Dupont Court in Manteca, California(Site;Figure 1). A Phase I ESA for the Site, dated
September 2013, was prepared by Geosyntec for Nestle. At the time the Phase I ESA
was prepared, the Site was used primarily as a refrigerated warehouse for the storage
and distribution of frozen food products. The eastern portion of the property was
generally undeveloped with three railroad tracks along the eastern perimeter. The Phase
I ESA identified the following REC and historic REC that warranted additional
evaluation:
1. Known groundwater impacts associated with the historic disposal reservoir
operated by the former Spreckels Sugar Plant No. 2; and
2. Following closure of the Former Spreckels Sugar Plant, the lime ponds
maintained by the sugar plant were excavated and mixed with native soil and
tare dirt, which is produced during beet washing and may contain pesticides and
herbicides.
This Work Plan is intended to detail the activities required to conduct a Phase II ESA
for the evaluation of the above referenced RECs.
20131115 Manteca Phase II Work Plan 3 11.15.2013
