Box 944212 Sacramento, CA 94244-2120 RE: Cost Pre-Approval, Additional Soil and Groundwater Investigation Location: Georges Service, 1600 Durham Ferry Rd., Tracy, CA LOP Site Code No.: 1550; USTCFP Claim No.: 8475 Dear Ms. Sanborn: On behalf of our client and owner of the subject property, GTI has prepared the following Cost Pre-Approval package for Additional Soil and Groundwater Investigation. On July 10, 2002, Nuel Henderson of San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division issued a letter requesting the following: • Analysis for natural attenuation parameters. • Further definition of the vertical extent of contamination in a down gradient direction. • Further vertical definition of contamination near the former pump island. On August 20, 2002, GTI prepared a work plan addressing the above issues. SJC PHS/EHD approved the work plan on October 21, 2002. Summary of Scope of Work • Install three discrete screened wells to a depth of 37.5 feet bgs. • Install one discrete screened well to a depth of 47.5 feet bgs. • Submit a total of eight soil samples for BTEX, TPH-G and MTBE. Two soil samples will be tested for oxygenates by EPA 8260. • Perform quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling • One quarter will include all 16 monitoring wells and 3 domestic wells ■ The other 3 quarters will include only 13 monitoring wells and the 3 domestic wells • Submit the groundwater samples for BTEX, TPH-G and MTBE ■ Two quarters will include the analysis for the oxygenate fuel compounds by EPA 8260. ■ Two quarters will include the analysis for natural attenuation indicator parameters. • Prepare and submit one site characterization report and four quarterly reports.
