George's Service
Remedial Action Work Plan
Project No.425.2
June 30,2011
7. REMEDIATION DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
The air sparging/low-vacuum extraction system will be monitored daily for the first week of
operation, weekly for the next four weeks of operation, and monthly thereafter. Data
collected during remedial activities will be included and discussed in the semi-annual
groundwater monitoring reports. It is important to note that the proposed monitoring
schedule may be adjusted according to requirements of the SJVUAPCD permit.
7.1. Emission Monitoring
Prior to installation of the low-vacuum extraction system, an Authority to Construct Permit
(ATC) will be obtained from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District
(SJVAPCD).
GTI proposes the following monitoring be conducted daily for the first week of operation,
weekly for four weeks and monthly thereafter, unless noted:
• Portable photo-ionization detector readings;
• Laboratory samples will be collected from an effluent sample port and tested for TPH-
G and BTEX by EPA method TO-3;
• Monitor effluent flow rates;
• Monitor hours of operation, electrical usage, vacuum and temperature;
• Perform routine maintenance of equipment(monthly).
A monitoring log,horizontal piping diagram, and a copy of the ATC permit will remain on-
site, available for inspection, at all times.
7.2. Air Sparge Monitoring
Inspection events(by GTI staff) will include monitoring of the following parameters:
• all performance functions of the treatment system;
• measuring and recording gas flow.
7.3. Depth to Water Measurements
On site and off site monitoring wells will be monitored on a weekly basis for the first month
to ensure that significant groundwater mounding that could spread the contamination is not
occurring. Once acceptable conditions have been realized, depth to water will be measured
on a monthly basis.
7.4. Groundwater Parameters
On site and off site monitoring wells will be monitored monthly for DO & ORP values to
track the development of the remedial plan. The wells to be included are: MW-1, 2, 2x, 3,4,
5, 6, 7, 8, 101, 102, 106, & 107. As monitoring progresses, w4propose to eliminate excess
wells from the monthly routine if they do not provide valuable information or duplicate
information.
Geological Tecknicslnc. 20
4252 RAP.docx
