Geologka[Tcc/utiUbu. • • Page 5
11W-Pilot Test
Project No. 425.2
June 14,2005
3.1 Radius of Influence Determination
The sparge wells are located close to observation wells. The observation wells will be
monitored to determine how long the ozone takes to affect the wells and to estimate the
radius of influence. The concentration of dissolved oxygen (DO) in an aquifer is used as an
indicator of air sparging effectiveness (source: "Analysis of Selected Enhancements for Soil
Vapor Extraction", US EPA document EPA-542-R-97-007, September, 1997). This also
applies to ozone usage as elevated DO in the wells will be an indicator that the ozone is
oxidizing the subsurface with the 02 reaction byproduct present in the aquifer.
4.0 SCHEDULE& REPORTING
4.1 Corrective Action Progress Reporting
After the pilot test has been concluded, GTI will assess the system effectiveness and use the
data to develop a final Full scale Remedial Action Plan to address the groundwater
contamination present at the site.
4.2 Proposed Schedule of Work
Upon work plan approval, GTI will immediately proceed with budgeting/scheduling this
project. The information gathered during this phase of work will be presented in a report,
which will include a summary of the pilot test data and recommendations. Dr. Ray
Kablanow, a registered professional geologist, will supervise the project. Copies of the
report will be forwarded to the appropriate County and State regulatory agencies (SJC-EHD
and CVRWQCB).
Task Description Completion Data
• Submit Feasibility Work Plan-Pilot Testing June 2005
• Receive approval of plan July 2005
• Develop Budget and Obtain approval of costs from the USTCFP July/August 2005
• Install Wells/Required equipment on site September 2005
• Conduct Remedial Systems Pilot Test October 2005
• Post Pilot Test Monitoring event Oct&Nov 2005
• Submit Remedial Action Effectiveness Report January 2006
• Submit Final Corrective Action Plan February 2006
