GeologicafTechnics Inc. <br />' 274I!River Toad <br /> ` Modesto.California 95351 <br /> E (209)538 6424/fax#538 5852 <br /> - Work Plan <br /> Additional Site Characterization <br /> George's Service <br /> 1600 Durham Ferry Road <br /> Tracy, California <br />' Project No 2812 <br /> January 29, 1996 <br /> 1.0 SITE BACKGROUND <br />�• The George's Service site located at 1600 Durham Ferry Road at the intersection of <br /> Highway 33 in Tracy George's Service operates the site as an automotive repair <br /> facility and mini market store <br /> On January 24, 1990, two 1,000 gallon steel UST's were removed from northern side <br /> 1 of the mini market building The San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS/EHD) inspector supervising the removal <br /> reported that corrosion was evident on the tanks and the soil exhibited a petroleum <br />' odor Soil samples recovered from beneath the tanks indicated that a release had <br /> occurred A limited over excavation was conducted which reached a vertical extent <br /> of 11 feet where groundwater was encountered The contaminated spoils were <br />' contained and stockpiled on site Clean fill was used to backfill the excavation <br /> On April 5, 1990 a 450 gallon waste oil tank and a 360 gallon kerosene tank were <br />' removed from the south portion of the site Only the kerosene tank exhibited <br /> evidence of leaking as confirmed by soil analyses <br />' On April 25, 1995, Geological Technics Inc personnel supervised and directed a <br /> subsurface investigation at the George's Service site A total of three groundwater <br /> monitoring wells were installed, two machine soil borings, and six hand auger <br />' borings were advanced to evaluate the vertical and lateral extent of gasoline range <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons The depth to groundwater was measured and samples <br /> were collected on May 4, 1995.
